The Essence is an erotic, romantic novel about two lovers who sense they began their relationship in a former life. From the moment they reunite they feel an uncanny familiarity that propels them into the most turbulent period of their lives.
Carlos has been married for eleven years with a young son. Idalia, eighteen years with two grown daughters. They are both dissatisfied in their marriages but have grown complacent and accepting of their lot in life. Idalia is older than Carlos and has never felt beautiful. She is overweight, with such a poor image of her body that she cannot believe Carlos could really be in love with her. Even though Carlos looks at Idalia with love and desire, she continually doubts his love for her is real.
Raúl knows Idalia best. He is the one who calls her with the news she cannot believe. It has been a few years since Idalia broke it off with Carlos after her husband, Rubén caught them kissing. The lying and subsequent confessions that follow culminate in Rubén’s sudden death, and Idalia cannot live with the guilt. She feels she does not deserve to be happy.
After Idalia sees Carlos for the last time, she reveals all the intimate details of her love story to her best friend. Raúl relates this rare narrative to his maitre d’ one night in the office of his famous restaurant.
Raúl is a flamboyant restaurateur who is central to the story. He is the one who fully understands the complexity of the love story with all it’s implications of past lives and eventual continuation of this extraordinary love in a future existence. Raúl is a sensitive, as some people would call him. He is susceptible to vibes and the one who realizes what happens in the end. The Essence begins with him and ends with him.

This was a intense love story, it took you through each character's emotions and thoughts. I loved how it explained each person's thoughts and how the situation effected each of them. This book will take you through a rollar coaster of emotions. In the back of your head, you know such things happen but due to society, culture, etc. people are just afarid to speak about it or acknowledge it. This book lays it all out. Though I understood the ending, I was hoping for a little more for closure. Besides that, it was a interesting and good read. I reccommend it!Product details

An amazing unpredictable love story. This story has a little bit of everything; romance, sexiness, sadness, etc. The story touched my heart in more ways than one. I enjoy books that make me feel as though I am part of the story and this book does just that. Evels kept it real. I can't wait to read more books by this author.
This book is about two people who fall deeply in love. The problem, they are both married with families. Their strong desire for each other causes them to do things outside their comfort zone. The book delves into the thoughts of each character which in turn does not allow the reader to pass judgement. Well written and thought provoking. Give it a try.
This is an interesting read for all people who believe in romance and finding true love. As the characters in the story reflect on the today's society, know relationship can be perfect. The author has done a wonderful job in writing about romance, love, sex, and other imperfections that come with human relationships. It is a must read for all people who wish to have romance in their life and for people to understand what love is all about.
I loved this book and could not put it down. The love between these two main characters is not unusual and there are so many couples out there going through this type of relationship every day. This story is sexy, erotic and to me very emotional. It's not easy finding your soul mate but when you do you have to follow your heart no matter what the consequences will be. Am looking forward to this author's next book.

Makes you think that there is hope for us romantic people, makes you think that one of these days you too will meet your soul mate, and that there is life after death. where you know that you have met somebody in your after life that you don't know here but that you could feel their presence , and you wonder how did I know that or this about that person, it leaves an impression in your life. whether you believe it or not, its good reading. I really enjoyed reading this lovely well written book, compliments to the Author. This book took you on a journey that you can relate to. I cried, laughed and recommend this book to everyone. Love exists and when you find that magnetic force don't let it go. To the Author keep writing I will be waiting for the next one....
A compelling read about soul mates. What do you do when you find your soul mate again but you are both married to others during this lifetime? Is it true love or selfishness to be with your soul mate when others are involved? This story unfolds through the words of 4 main characters. The emotions are so raw and real that you will almost surely empathize with one of characters. The plot is sometimes confusing because it bounces back and forth through present and past often, but you get so caught up with each character's side of the story that you'll read on. Will you root for the lovers, understand their need to be together again in this life time, or side with the forgotten spouses?....you will only know once you've read the book.
